Golf Force Plate Assessment in Windsor
You can’t see force. You have to measure it.
Everyone talks about using the ground better. Elevate’s 2-hour 3D Force Plate Assessment uses Smart2Move technology to measure how you interact with the ground during your golf swing, connect that information to your movement and ball flight, and identify your biggest opportunities to improve.
Everyone Talks About Using the Ground. But How Are You Actually Using It?
Golfers are constantly being told to use the ground better. The problem is that force isn’t something we can simply see by watching a golf swing.
Two golfers can create movements that look similar on video while interacting with the ground in very different ways. If we want to understand how you are creating force, where you are creating it and when it is happening, we need to measure it.
That’s what 3D force plates allow us to do. Instead of guessing about how you’re using the ground, we can collect objective data, connect it to your golf swing and use that information to make better coaching decisions.
You Can’t See Force. You Have to Measure It.
Video is incredibly valuable for understanding how your body moves. TrackMan helps us understand what the club and ball are doing.
Smart2Move 3D Force Plates add another layer: they allow us to measure how you are interacting with the ground while producing that golf swing.
When those pieces are evaluated together, we can build a much clearer picture of your movement, your ball flight and the opportunities that may have the greatest impact on your game.
Different Tools Answer Different Questions.
No single piece of technology tells the entire story. At Elevate, we combine multiple sources of information to understand the golfer in front of us and determine what actually deserves our attention.
Video
How are you moving?Video gives us a clear visual of your golf swing and helps us understand the movement patterns that are producing the shot.
TrackMan
What are the club and ball doing?Club and ball data help us understand delivery, impact and ball flight so the changes we make stay connected to actual golf performance.
Smart2Move 3D Force Plates
How are you interacting with the ground?Force plates measure the forces created between you and the ground, giving us objective information that cannot be obtained simply by watching the swing.
See What’s Happening Under Your Feet.
Rather than reducing your swing to one number, we look at how pressure and force are organized throughout the motion, how much force you create and, importantly, when you create it.
Pressure
Where are you applying pressure?See how pressure is distributed under each foot and how it moves throughout the golf swing. This helps us understand how you organize your interaction with the ground from setup through impact.
Lateral Force
How are you pushing side to side?Measure the horizontal forces you create against the ground and understand how those forces contribute to the way you shift, organize and move during the swing.
Rotational Force
How are you creating torque against the ground?Understand how your interaction with the ground contributes to rotational force and how that strategy relates to the motion we see in your golf swing.
Vertical Force
How and when are you pushing vertically?Measure how you push against the ground vertically and evaluate how that force is being used within your overall movement and force strategy.
It’s Not Just How Much. It’s When.
Producing force is only part of the story. The timing of that force matters.
Your force-plate data allows us to look at when different forces are being created relative to the golf swing. That gives us a much better understanding of your individual strategy than simply chasing a bigger peak number.
We’re Not Chasing a “Perfect” Force-Plate Number.
Golfers create speed and organize their movement in different ways. The goal of your assessment isn’t to make your force-plate graphs look exactly like somebody else’s.
We want to understand your force strategy, how it relates to your movement, club delivery and ball flight, and which changes actually have the greatest opportunity to improve your performance.
We Don’t Just Measure It. We Coach It.
Your assessment combines Smart2Move 3D force-plate data, video, TrackMan and hands-on coaching to move from baseline testing to clear priorities, targeted training and retesting.
Understand Your Swing + Goals
We start with you. We’ll discuss what you’re working on, the shots or patterns you’re trying to improve and what you want to get from the assessment. Then we’ll establish a baseline with your normal golf swing.
Capture Your 3D Force Data
Hit shots from the Smart2Move 3D Dual Force Plates so we can objectively measure how you’re interacting with the ground throughout your golf swing.
Identify Your Force Strategy
We’ll break down the data in golfer-friendly language and identify the patterns that matter most. The goal is not to overwhelm you with numbers. It’s to understand how you create force, when you create it and where the biggest opportunities may exist.
Connect the Ground to Your Golf Swing
Force data doesn’t live in isolation. We’ll compare what is happening under your feet with your movement on video, your club delivery and your ball flight to understand how your force strategy is showing up in the golf swing.
Work on What Matters Most
Once we’ve identified the priority, we coach it. Depending on what we find, that may include golf-swing changes, movement tasks, force-specific drills, external constraints or training tools designed to help you create a different response.
Measure What Changed
Where appropriate, we’ll return to the force plates after training and compare the response. That allows us to see whether the intervention actually changed the force strategy, the golf swing or the resulting shot.
Yes, This Is a Golf Lesson.
The force plates help us understand the problem. Coaching is how we help you improve it.
A significant part of your assessment is dedicated to helping you make meaningful changes based on what we find. We want you to experience the difference, understand what you’re working on and leave knowing exactly what to practice next.

What Could Your Force Plate Data Help Us Understand?
The value isn’t simply knowing how much force you create. It’s understanding how your individual force strategy relates to the golf swing you’re producing and whether there is an opportunity to make that strategy more effective.
Why Is My Contact So Inconsistent?
If strike varies from swing to swing, understanding how you organize pressure and force can add important context to the movement we see on video. We can investigate whether your interaction with the ground is contributing to the pattern and identify what deserves attention.
Where Could I Find More Speed?
Speed isn’t simply about pushing harder. We can look at how much force you create, the direction of that force and when it occurs, then connect those findings to your movement and clubhead speed.
Am I Creating Force at the Right Time?
A golfer can create meaningful force but produce it at a time that doesn’t best support the motion they’re trying to make. Force-plate data allows us to evaluate the timing of your individual strategy throughout the swing.
How Am I Actually Moving Pressure?
Instead of guessing whether you’re getting into one side or moving pressure toward the target, we can see how pressure is organized under your feet and how that pattern changes throughout the golf swing.
Why Is This Swing Change So Difficult?
Sometimes the visible movement is only part of the story. Understanding the forces underneath the motion can give us additional context for why a movement keeps appearing and help us choose a more appropriate way to train the change.
How Do I Personally Create Force?
There isn’t one force pattern that every golfer needs to copy. Your assessment helps us understand your individual strategy, what you’re already doing effectively and where your biggest opportunities to improve may exist.
Find the Lowest-Hanging Fruit.
We aren’t looking for ten things to change. We’re looking for the opportunities that can make the biggest difference.
Your force-plate data gives us another way to separate what is interesting from what is actually important, so we can focus your coaching and practice on the priorities most likely to improve your golf.
Force Plates Aren’t Just for Tour Players.
The assessment is designed for golfers who want a deeper understanding of their swing and a clearer plan for improvement. Your ability level changes the conversation, not whether the information can be useful.
Golfers Looking for More Clubhead Speed
If speed is a priority, understanding how much force you create, the direction of that force and when you create it can give us valuable information about where opportunities may exist.
Golfers Struggling With Consistent Contact
If your strike or low point varies too often, force-plate data can add another layer to understanding how your interaction with the ground relates to the movement producing those shots.
Golfers Working Through a Swing Change
When a movement keeps returning or a change feels difficult, measuring what is happening underneath the motion can provide additional context and help us choose better training strategies.
Competitive Golfers
Players looking for small performance gains can use objective force data to better understand their current strategy, establish baselines and make more informed decisions about future development.
Junior Golfers
For developing players, force-plate testing can help us better understand how they currently create movement and speed while keeping coaching priorities appropriate for the individual golfer.
Golfers Who Want to Know What’s Really Happening
You don’t need to arrive with a major swing problem. If you’re serious about improvement and want to understand how you personally use the ground, the assessment can give you a much clearer picture.
If you’re deciding between a TPI Golf Assessment, a 3D Force Plate Assessment or simply starting with a golf lesson, book a free 15-minute consultation and we’ll help point you in the right direction.

Great Technology Is Only the Starting Point.
At Elevate Performance Golf in Windsor, Smart2Move 3D force-plate technology is combined with TrackMan, video and experienced golf coaching to turn complex information into practical decisions about your golf swing.
3D Dual Force Plates
Understand How You Interact With the Ground.
Smart2Move 3D Dual Force Plates allow us to measure how you interact with the ground during your golf swing, including pressure, ground reaction forces and force timing. That adds an objective layer to what we see on video and what TrackMan tells us about the club and ball.
Technology Only Matters if the Information Changes the Coaching.
Owning force plates doesn’t automatically create better golf coaching. The data has to be interpreted within the context of the golfer, the movement, the club and the ball flight.
At Elevate, we aren’t trying to make your force-plate graphs look like somebody else’s. We use the information to determine what matters, what doesn’t and what we should actually coach.
We Build the Picture From Multiple Angles.
Each tool answers a different question. The coaching decision comes from understanding how those pieces fit together within your golf swing and your goals.
The Golfer
Your goals, tendencies, experience and the performance problem you’re actually trying to solve.
Smart2Move
How you interact with the ground, including pressure, force direction, magnitude and timing.
Video
How your body and golf swing are moving while those forces are being created.
TrackMan
What the club and ball are doing and whether the intervention is improving actual golf performance.
Elevate owner and PGA of Canada Class A Professional Ryan Robillard has more than 10,000 hours of coaching experience and 1,000+ hours of professional development.
Smart2Move force-plate technology becomes another tool within that coaching process: helping us test assumptions, better understand the golfer and make more informed decisions about what to train next.
Questions About 3D Force Plate Assessments
Here are answers to common questions about golf force plate assessments, Smart2Move 3D force plates, ground reaction forces and what to expect during your assessment at Elevate Performance Golf in Windsor.
01 What is a golf force plate assessment?
A golf force plate assessment measures how you interact with the ground while making a golf swing. At Elevate, we use Smart2Move 3D Dual Force Plates alongside video and TrackMan to evaluate your force strategy and connect those measurements to your movement, club delivery and ball flight.
The assessment also includes coaching, personalized drills and clear next steps based on what we find.
02 What are ground reaction forces in the golf swing?
When you push against the ground, the ground pushes back against you. Those forces are called ground reaction forces.
In golf, we can measure those forces in multiple directions and evaluate their magnitude and timing throughout the swing. That helps us better understand how your interaction with the ground contributes to the movement you’re producing.
03 What is the difference between pressure and force?
They’re related, but they aren’t the same thing. Pressure information can help us understand how your interaction with the ground is distributed under your feet and how that distribution changes during the swing.
Force measurements tell us about the forces being applied between you and the ground. During the assessment, we’ll explain the measurements that are relevant to you without expecting you to become a biomechanics expert.
04 Can’t you see ground reaction forces on video?
Video is excellent for seeing movement, but movement and force are not the same thing. Two swings can look similar while the golfers create and time forces differently.
Force plates allow us to measure your interaction with the ground. We then use video to connect those measurements to the movement we see.
05 Can a force plate assessment help me increase clubhead speed?
It can help us understand whether there are opportunities within your current force strategy that may support speed development. We can evaluate how much force you create, its direction and when it occurs, then compare that information with your movement and clubhead-speed data.
That doesn’t mean every golfer simply needs to push harder. The opportunity may involve magnitude, timing, direction, movement strategy or something else entirely.
06 Can force plates help with inconsistent contact?
Force-plate data can give us additional information about how you organize pressure and force while producing the swing. If inconsistent contact is the problem, we’ll evaluate whether your interaction with the ground is contributing to the movement and strike pattern we’re seeing.
Force plates are one part of the assessment, so we also consider your swing, club delivery and ball flight rather than assuming every contact problem starts under your feet.
07 Do I need to be an advanced golfer?
No. The 3D Force Plate Assessment is available to golfers of different skill levels. You don’t need a certain handicap or competitive background.
What matters more is that you’re interested in understanding your golf swing and want clear, individualized information about how you can improve.
08 Is the assessment appropriate for junior golfers?
Yes. Force-plate assessment can be used with junior golfers when the information is appropriate for the player’s stage of development and goals.
With juniors, the objective is still the same: understand the individual golfer and use the information to make better coaching decisions rather than chase a predetermined force pattern.
09 Will I actually hit golf balls during the assessment?
Yes. This is a golf-specific assessment and coaching session. You’ll hit golf shots while we collect force-plate, video and TrackMan information.
Once we’ve identified the priorities, you’ll also spend time working on relevant drills, tasks or swing changes rather than simply completing tests.
10 Is this a golf lesson or just an assessment?
It’s both. Testing helps us understand what you’re doing, but a significant part of the session is devoted to helping you improve it.
Once we’ve identified the most important opportunities, we’ll coach the priority, use drills or training tools where appropriate and retest during the session when it makes sense to do so.
11 What do I receive after the assessment?
You’ll leave with an understanding of your current force strategy, the priorities identified during the assessment, personalized drills or training recommendations and clear next steps.
Your key findings and practice recommendations will also be summarized through CoachNow so you have something to reference after the session.
12 How long is the assessment and what does it cost?
The Elevate 3D Force Plate Assessment is a 2-hour session and costs $260, including HST.
The session includes force-plate testing and interpretation, golf-swing evaluation, coaching, personalized training recommendations and your next-step plan.
13 What should I bring to my force plate assessment?
Bring your golf clubs and wear clothing and footwear that allow you to move and make normal golf swings comfortably.
If there is a particular club, shot pattern or performance problem you want to investigate, we’ll discuss that at the beginning of the session.
14 What’s the difference between a TPI Golf Assessment and a 3D Force Plate Assessment?
The assessments answer different questions. A TPI Golf Assessment places greater emphasis on your physical capabilities and how those capabilities relate to your golf swing.
A 3D Force Plate Assessment focuses more specifically on how you interact with the ground during the golf swing, including pressure, ground reaction forces and force timing.
If you’re unsure which assessment is the better starting point, book a free consultation and we’ll help you decide before you book.
