Building a Junior Golf Pathway in Windsor–Essex
The Junior Golf Pathway Windsor families can now access through Elevate Performance Golf is something I’ve been thinking about and working toward for a long time.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to coach junior golfers at almost every stage of the game, from players picking up a club for the first time to competitive juniors pursuing provincial, national and collegiate golf.
One thing I’ve continued to come back to is the need for a clearer development pathway for junior golfers across Windsor and Essex County.
Not every junior starts in the same place. Not every player has the same goals. And development shouldn’t simply mean moving from one age group to the next.
That thinking is behind the Elevate Junior Golf Pathway.
The goal is to create multiple entry points into the game while giving players a clearer path forward as their skills, experience, goals and commitment evolve.
From First Swings to Competitive Golf
The complete pathway is designed to support golfers across a wide range of stages.
For our youngest players, that may mean creating a fun and positive first experience with golf.
As players develop, the environment can become progressively more structured, introducing stronger fundamentals, skill development, practice habits, on-course learning and eventually competitive development.
For committed competitive golfers, that pathway can continue into more individualized coaching, assessment, physical development, tournament preparation and long-term performance planning.
The important part is that there isn’t only one way into the pathway, and players don’t need to progress through it at the same speed.
Age helps guide where a junior may begin, but skill, experience, readiness and goals matter too.
Building the Pathway One Stage at a Time
We’re not launching every part of the complete pathway at once.
Fall 2026 represents an important first step, with SPARK, Girls Club, Girls Skills and Development Team joining our existing year-round Junior Performance Team.
This winter, the pathway will expand again with the addition of IGNITE and LAUNCH, creating more opportunities for junior golfers at different stages of development.
From there, we’ll continue building.
The long-term objective is a year-round junior development system where golfers can find the right starting point and continue to access the coaching, practice, playing and development environments they need as they progress.
More Than One Development Environment
An important part of the pathway is recognizing that golfer development doesn’t happen in one place.
At Elevate Performance Golf, players have access to year-round indoor coaching, TrackMan technology, practice, assessment and structured player development.
During the outdoor season, Sutton Creek Golf Club provides our outdoor home, with a full-size driving range, putting and short-game areas and an 18-hole golf course where players can learn to transfer their skills from practice into play.
For players moving further into competitive development, physical assessment and training can also become part of the process through our work with Apex Performance & Health.
Together, those environments allow us to look at the golfer more completely.
Building for the Long Term
This is something we intend to continue building over the coming years.
We want more juniors to have a great introduction to golf. We want players who love the game to have somewhere to continue developing. And we want committed competitive golfers in Windsor and Essex County to have access to a development environment capable of helping them pursue ambitious goals.
The pathway gives us a framework for doing that with more purpose.
